Opening Night: May 18th, 2007 - at the Stafford Opera House in Columbus, TX.
"ART well done"
The Company Theatre teamed with Ruben's Cafe' to bring the first in the "Dinner Box Theatre' series...great theatre and a great dinner at a affordable price in San Antonio's newest performance venue!
Art features three buddies (Marc Serge & Ivan) who get caught up in an increasingly barbarous exchange about the worthiness of the expensive blank painting, which Serge brings home. As they contest its value - and spark dangerous antagonisms among them - they reveal that like many long-time friends, they don't really have much in common and actually don't even like each other very much.

Reviews/Testimonials:
With what seems their signature simplicity with stage & set - The Company Theatre's dialogue shines again. Art is a funny piece, Sienfeld-esque in moments, with a distinct undertow revealing how human nature makes simple relationships so complex. And all over a piece of not-white art! Gillen, Stephens and Regan not only convince us of their characters, but watching their expressive faces will have you laughing out loud! Benji Regan's monologues are especially touching, charged with emotion and riddled with voices that kept my eyebrows raised and a smile on my face. Whether you are modern, vintage, or amoeba – you’ll enjoy this non-offensive, emotionally dynamic play at the comfy new Ruben’s Dinner Box Theatre. --Amy Stephens
"...Gillen, who also directed, gives the strongest performance"
...played to pretentious perfection ...exudes traditional, arrogant intellectualism so effectively...
...darkly comic...
...just the right mix of earnestness and irony...
...how hard I laughed...
